4th grade field trip to Neal Smith

4th Grade students on their field trip to Neal Smith National Wildlife Preserve learn how bison used to roam the prairies.  The bisons’ decreasing numbers were related to transcontinental railroads as well as the United States government’s attempts to move Native Americans further west, allowing for westward expansion.  This field trip is part of the fourth grade focus on nature that culminates with the three day Y-Camp event in May.
